Take your time. Get to know someone before sharing personal details.
Protect your private information. Keep your home address, workplace, ID and bank details to yourself.
Never send money. Be careful with anyone who asks for money, gifts, crypto or investment help, however convincing the story sounds.
Think before sharing photos. Once a photo is sent, you can’t control where it goes.
Watch for warning signs. Be careful if someone rushes the relationship, avoids meeting or a video call, or asks you to move to another app very quickly.

Meet in a public place. Choose somewhere busy, such as a café, for the first few dates.
Tell a friend. Share where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to be back.
Arrange your own transport. Stay in control of how you get there and how you leave.
Stay alert. Keep an eye on your drink and belongings, and know your limits with alcohol.
Trust your instincts. You can leave at any time, without having to explain.
